Well, I'm not much of a gardener, but I do know that even perennials need a bit of looking after.

This week I'm all about black and white and pen and ink.

I was very flattered this week, to find myself featured on Beth Niquette's blog under "FATuesday" ( Featured Art Tuesday)  as an artist who makes her laugh. I can think of no greater complement and so I dedicate this weeks entry for Illustration Friday to you Beth, as a "gesture" of thanks. See what I did there....?

Tea party.

I had a lovely birthday tea party at the weekend. There was plenty of cake, including a fabulous chocolate/berry gateau provided by my friend Wendy, and wonderful flowers and prezzies like this beautiful cat from Jane Cabrera.

Illustration Friday. "Stay"

It's not going to though, is it?

While reading about the death of the artist  Cy Twombly this week, I was interested to learn that he sometimes used the surrealist technique of painting in the dark.

Well, I'm no surrealist but that sounded like fun, so I had a go. Here are a few sketches myself, drawn after looking in the mirror then shutting my eyes......I think I may need to practice.

Sunday on the beach

Spent a wonderful day on the beach on Sunday. I let the young and the reckless (not necessarily in that order) take to the waves while I did sedate paddling and sun cream application. I had great intentions of sketching the fabulous scenery but it was just too darn hot. Today it is raining again, so this is just to remind me of how I got sun burnt.

Because a cup of tea with a friend makes everything better. Oh, and cake is also good.
